Healthy Homes Ealing offers residents free and impartial advice on saving money on your energy bills, and maintaining a safe and comfortable temperature all year-round. And it can help you access grants to fund home improvements to increase energy efficiency.
If you are feeling the heat this summer, you will most likely experience extreme cold this winter, so now is the time to plan for improvements to your home.
Grants are available to most residents and Ealing Council’s Healthy Homes Ealing (HHE) is here to help you access funding to carry out work, whether large or small, and to assist in working through what your options are. Its team can also help you to better understand how energy efficiency is measured and to learn if your home’s rating qualifies you for the government’s recently announced Green Homes Grant or other efficiency schemes.
Residents living in inefficient homes, on benefits, low incomes, disabled, and those over age 65 or with young children in the home, may also qualify for a free consultation from HHE’s ‘green doctors’. They can answer questions about your energy use, ensure you are on the best energy tariff and help with switching if necessary to cut your energy bills, and will make a plan with you to ensure your home is as efficient as possible before the cold weather returns.
Councillor Peter Mason, the council’s cabinet member for housing, planning and transformation, said: “We face an unprecedented climate crisis. Keeping our homes healthy won’t only keep ourselves healthy, but also help reduce the amount of energy used to keep our homes warm in the winter. We are now able to offer plenty of support to help residents make their homes greener, and ensure that our homes are safe, warm, and comfortable throughout the seasons.”
All residents are invited to call the advice line at 0800 083 2265 or to sign up at http://www.ealing.gov.uk/healthyhomesealing or email GreenDoctorsLDN@groundwork.org.uk to see if you qualify for a free consultation.
