Careline is a telecare alarm service designed to help older, frail or disabled people to remain in their own homes, safe in the knowledge that they always have somebody to help them in an emergency.
The monitoring and response service aims to help vulnerable residents manage the risks associated with living independently.
Unobtrusive, wireless sensors are installed by the Careline team around your home. These can detect potential problems like smoke, gas, a build-up of heat, flooding or even someone falling over. The sensors automatically alert the Careline monitoring centre or a carer or key holder, who can then help. The sensors also allow the team to talk to you wherever you are in your home without the need for them to pick up the phone.
You can also alert the team to a problem by pressing a button on a pendant which is worn around the neck.
The help you need
Careline can help with all sorts of problems, from the medical – for example, a fall, or a sudden illness – to safety concerns; maybe you suspect you have a bogus caller or need to contact the emergency services. It could even just be when you need a bit of reassurance or a chat. At any time of the day or night, someone will be at the end of the phone line to help.
Careline fills the gap for people who do not have someone who can respond to their needs at any time of the day or night. More than 4,000 people of all ages already use the service, from just 21 all the way up to 105.
