Comedy and Jazz next up for Summer Festivals

The Ealing Summer Festivals are in full swing and there’s still plenty to look forward to in the coming weeks whether you are after comedy, music great entertainment.

There are five nights of side-splittingly hilarious stand-up to look forward to courtesy of this year’s Ealing Comedy Festival, which kicks off this weekend. It included the likes of Sean Lock, Milton Jones, Nish Kumar, Shappi Khorsandi and Josh Widdicombe, to name just a few.

This year also marks festival’s 25th anniversary and to celebrate, the curtain will come down with two special gala shows featuring 25 comics from previous years. The Ealing Comedy Festival runs on 19-20 and 25-27July.

The Ealing Blues Festival also takes place at Walpole Park this weekend (21-22 July) and features acts including leading Rolling Stones tribute act The Counterfeit Stones and also Kitty, Daisy & Lewis, fresh from the release of their fourth studio album.

The following weekend (28- 29 July) sees the Ealing Jazz Festival come to Walpole Park, offering an eclectic selection of live acts. The festival has a well-earned reputation as one of the UK’s most iconic community festivals and this year features the likes of legendary drummer and Afrobeat pioneer Tony Allen, MOBO Award-winning singer-songwriter Zara McFarlane, legendary British Jazz exponents The Big Chris Barber Band, experimental jazz outfit Vels Trio.

Councillor Bassam Mahfouz, Ealing Council’s cabinet member for transport, environment and leisure said: There’s so much look forward to over the next couple of weekends courtesy of the latest event in the Ealing Summer Festivals programme.

“Whether you are looking for laughs, great music, or just a great summer day out in one of the beautiful green spaces, Walpole Park is the place to be this month.”

Set in some of the borough’s stunning and idyllic green spaces, the Ealing Summer Festivals bring people together in a collective appreciation of exceptional local and international talent across a range of artistic disciplines.
