Major public services provider Carillion has gone into liquidation. The move came after talks between the firm, its lenders and the government failed to reach a deal to save the company, which runs the council’s library services through a subsidiary group.
The council has confirmed that libraries remain open for business and there are comprehensive contingency plans in place to ensure services run normally despite Carillion’s announcement. The council is seeking urgent discussion with Carillion to get further clarity about the implications for the service.
