Three triyoga passes and yoga mats to be won

What better way to Get Moving and try out yoga or pilates than by winning our triyoga competition? Three lucky winners will get a month’s unlimited pass to triyoga in central Ealing plus a Liforme yoga mat – a prize worth more than £150 combined.

triyoga opened in Dickens Yard in Ealing in November – its fifth centre in London. It offers more than 20 different types of yoga and pilates, for every level; from total beginner to experienced practitioners. It also has a ‘far infrared’ sauna for detoxing and relaxation; and there is a wide range of therapies available, from massage to acupuncture, to osteopathy.

‘There is truly something for everyone’

Jonathan Sattin, triyoga’s founder, said: “In Ealing as well as our other four centres, we offer a broad range of authentic styles of yoga from vinyasa flow, restorative yoga, Iyengar Yoga, Jivamukti Yoga, Yin, TRE and much more. There is truly something for everyone.

“We hope that by offering a wide variety everyone – regardless of their age, size, gender, fitness, diet or lifestyle – anyone can develop a yoga practice that they can enjoy and benefit from.

Here we look at the stories of four triyoga customers, or ‘students’, who explained how yoga has had a hugely positive impact on their lives.

‘I have incredible energy’

Aurelia, 66, said: “I remember seeing a sign that triyoga was opening in Ealing and thought to myself that when it did open, I would give it a try. I guess you could say I was curious to find out what all the fuss was about. The first day I went in, I decided to take up the Intro offer. I was a little overwhelmed by all the different options, but I tried as many as I could, until I discovered the Mysore style of practice in the morning. I thought it was great from the first day. It’s different from other classes because you are given more one-on-one attention, and you are always learning. I like that.

“So far, I have come nearly 130 times. I am a pensioner, but I would say it is good value for money, especially because I come nearly every day. How has it helped? Well I am a nicer person. This sounds strange but I feel like my body and soul are ‘in tune’. I have lost weight without really changing my diet, and I have incredible energy. I sleep better. And I feel a lot calmer. My bike was stolen the other day and, before yoga, I would have freaked out. I recommend anyone to give it a try.”

‘It’s helped with my bad back’

Liam, 42, said: “I used to practice hot yoga before; I am now on the introductory pass for 30 days. I really like the structure of the classes and the teaching is great – they adapt it to different levels so it’s not ‘one size fits all’. The hot yoga is amazing. I mean, you feel good after a normal class, but after hot I feel incredible. Even the day after too. At first, it was really difficult, but you find that your muscle tone and core strength improve really quickly. I also like the fact that it’s not taken too seriously, I believe you should be smiling when you practice yoga.

“Yoga has helped me in loads of ways, I have more energy, better muscle tone, and because I drink so much water my skin is better. The fact I am sleeping better, and the fact I feel calmer, has helped with reducing my stress levels. It’s complementing my other exercise and helped with my bad back, and really built up strength in my legs.”

‘The best thing is the sense of community I now have’

Rosalind, 27, said: “triyoga has become a big part of my life since I started coming in January. I attend the Mysore style of practice in the morning, and it has been great for me in so many ways. I guess the biggest thing is that my body has changed. It feels more open, flexible and I can breathe much more easily.  Before my practice, I used to hold my breath a lot, and I know now that this linked to me feeling stressed. Now I can think more clearly, do my job better, and I feel like I am a nicer person.

“I suppose the best thing is the sense of community I now have. Having a group of friends who have all grown together in our practice: It’s wonderful.”

‘I have been bringing my daughter here for the kids’ classes’

Kerry, 46, said: “I first came for the opening trial weekend in Ealing and loved it and I’ve been coming several times a week ever since. Yoga has helped me through the years deal with my mental health, especially helping with anxiety, which I had struggled with in the past. Yoga has really helped me get back into my body, and out of my head. I don’t really know how it worked, but it did.

“I am training to be a yoga teacher currently and feel like I am learning just as much coming to all the different classes as I am on my actual course. I love the feel of the Ealing centre, it is like a big family, a community.

“I have been bringing my daughter here for the kids’ classes on a Tuesday. The first time, she was a bit nervous, but she loved it straight away. What’s amazing is that she is much calmer, and whenever she gets agitated she recognises it, and can calm herself down. She has become more resilient and the yoga class is now the highlight of her week.”

A 10-class pass at triyoga works out at £13.50 a class or, if you are a senior, a person seeking full-time employment or a full-time student they work out at £10.80. You can also buy monthly unlimited passes which you can use at any triyoga or just pay for an individual class.

triyoga is also currently running an introductory offer – which is £54 for a 30-day pass of unlimited yoga.

After the deadline, three winners will be selected at random. Only the winners will be notified and contacted. Winners may be asked to take part in a future Ealing News Extra article. Winners will need to arrange collection of their prizes with triyoga.
