Social worker takeover of council’s social media

March 19, 2018

Social workers will share what they do on an average day via the council’s social media accounts tomorrow (Tuesday, 20 March), which is World Social Worker Day.

Social workers help to improve people’s lives by supporting individuals and their families through difficult times or when they need more care. They tend to specialise in supporting children and families, or vulnerable adults.

On the day, the posts will come from Freddie, Hannah, and Stacey – who cover off a whole range of social work between them. You can see more about them in the pictures above (scroll through the gallery). To follow them, follow Ealing Council’s social media accounts:

Or you can simply follow the hashtags #EalingSocialWorker or #WSWD18

Councillor Binda Rai, the council’s cabinet member for children and young people, said: “Working as a social worker for children is a very challenging and difficult job. The work they do day in and day out can be overlooked and often the focus on social workers can come when things have gone wrong, but social workers put in an incredible amount of commitment and effort to ensure our children are kept safe. I’d like to thank our social workers for their commitment to Ealing’s children.”

Councillor Hitesh Tailor, cabinet member for adult services, said: “This is a great way to highlight the amazing work that social workers do in our borough to look after the most vulnerable residents in Ealing.

“With a growing and ageing population that is living longer, many more people need social care and demand on our services is increasing. So, thank you to every single social worker who keep such high standards when dealing with vulnerable residents during a difficult time.”
