The results of the public poll are in. You made your suggestions for names for these lovely lemurs and then voted to choose which ones you liked the best. Three people have won great prizes as a result.
Everyone who voted in our poll on our Facebook page was entered into a prize draw. Two winners are being picked at random to each receive a chance to meet the lemurs up close in their space at Hanwell Zoo with a keeper, and also a pair of annual memberships to the zoo. The person who originally suggested the winning names will also be getting the same prize.
Our poll ran for a week – until just before midnight yesterday (Tuesday, 3 October). And this is how it finished:
So our three lemurs will officially be called Maddie, Casper and Madagascar.
Hanwell Zoo manager Jim Gregory thanked everyone who took part, and said: “We had some really nice name suggestions come through and it was fun watching the votes come in and wondering what our lemurs were going to be called. I’m looking forward to telling them their new names, and I’m sure they’ll approve. I hope the prize winners enjoy coming to visit our troop and making use of their zoo memberships. We have so much here to see and do, and so many events taking place, so they should have a great time. Hopefully, everyone else who voted will come down to see the lemurs too.”
Busy time at the zoo
There is lots going on at Hanwell Zoo. Make sure you join in the Halloween trail when visitors get a chance to discover the spookier side of the zoo in October half term; and you can also enjoy the ‘animal wonderland’ Christmas promotion running from 2 December to 24 December when visitors will get the chance to make their own festive decorations and put them on the zoo’s Christmas tree.
