Ealing Half Marathon 2020 virtual challenges - the map of parks

This year’s Ealing Half Marathon may have fallen victim to COVID-19, like so many events in 2020, but that does not mean you cannot still take part…and win yourself a medal (or two).

It is important for our physical and mental health to keep active and Get Moving despite the restrictions caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

And the team behind the award-winning race has organised two virtual challenges for you to take part in this September and they are open to everyone, whether you signed up to run Ealing Half Marathon this year or not.

Queen of the Suburbs Challenge – run, jog or walk in 13 designated Ealing parks. You have the whole of September to complete the challenge. On completion, you would get a Queen of the Suburbs medal. A map (pictured above) is also available to download here.

13.1 Challenge – this challenge can be done anywhere in the world! If you run, jog or walk 13.1 miles between Monday 21 and Sunday, 27 September 2020 you would receive a 13.1 Challenge medal.

Each challenge includes your medal in the cost which is £12.50 plus a processing fee of 66p. Or you could take on both challenges for £22 plus a processing fee of £1.16 and receive both medals that fit together to form a ‘double medal’. There are also weekly prizes to be won.

Ealing Half Marathon is run by a community interest company, which is not-for-profit. Through its community arm, EHM Legacy, it is involved in all kinds of Get Moving initiatives with the council, schools and other local organisations.

More information

The Ealing Half team has put together a list of answers to frequently asked questions (FAQs), some of which are below:

Where can I sign up?

  • Queen of the Suburbs Challenge HERE
  • 13.1 Challenge HERE
  • Both events HERE

Can I take part in both challenges?
Yes. It’s cheaper too, just £22.00 plus £1.16 processing fee for both instead of £12.50 plus 63p processing fee for each challenge.

I don’t live in Ealing, can I still take part?
You need to travel to Ealing to take part in the Queen of the Suburbs Challenge, but you can take part in the 13.1 Challenge anywhere in the world.

How will you track my runs and distance? You will need to upload your results via your www.my.race-nation.co.uk account on your app or on your PC. You can create your account on registration or claim it after you have signed up. Then by using a tracking app on your watch or phone (e.g. Strava, Garmin Connect, Runkeeper etc) you will be able to add in your links to your activities on your app or PC. Full details will be sent to you before the start of the events on how to do this.

Can I walk or jog the challenges?
Yes. You can walk, jog, or run (or a mixture of all three) for both challenges.

Is there an age limit for the challenges?
No, but each registration only includes one medal per event so anyone that wishes to take part to receive a medal will need to have their own paid place.

Can I raise money for charity?
You can choose to raise funds for one of the EHM’s four charities if you so choose but it is not a requirement to taking part in the event.

You can read the full FAQs on the Ealing Half website.
