Last minute Christmas shopping? Enjoy the lights and trees

Ealing Christmas tree 2017

Do you have Christmas shopping still to do? Make sure you visit our town centres for your final bits and to enjoy the Christmas trees and festive lights that have gone up thanks to local sponsors and Ealing Council.

As we reported recently, lots of seasonal activities and fun events have been taking place in our towns. And, as well as the Christmas tree that was unveiled in Southall recently, several others have appeared too.

Council leader Julian Bell led the countdown to the switch-on of the lights on a 25ft tree outside Ealing Town Hall (pictured above). This tree has been sponsored by St George. There were mince pies, mulled wine and music from The Hanwell Ukele Group to create a festive cheer and get everyone in the Christmas spirit.

O’Shea sponsored a Christmas tree in Acton, which is centrally located on The Mount, outside St Mary’s Church. And sponsorship for the Christmas tree in Greenford has come from Greystar.

The borough’s town centres have been beautifully lit with festive lights this year. These are displayed on lamp columns along the high streets. This was possible thanks to contributions from sponsors: Clarion, In West Ealing Business Improvement District, OPDC, T Brown, Murrill, Bauder and Mleczko Delikatesy.

Lucy Taylor, the council’s acting executive director of regeneration and housing, said: “I would like to thank all our sponsors for supporting us this year and helping us to make our town centres really festive and bright. I look forward to working with our many businesses and partners across the borough in 2018, to make sure our town centres continue to thrive.”
